no weigh in would be at dark, be back before dark. I like the way we do it. I want to be fishing as early as possible, if we cant blast off in the dark then just as soon as you can see... blast off. If we pick a time then it will be set for after first light.
I'm on a toon, I dont mind blasting off in the dark because I wont be in traffic. I dont care what time we start but 20 boats taking off in the dark is a little hairy. Even if you look at forcast and it says sunrise at 6:30, thats the sun...not first light, but even based on that time cloudy weather will delay first light. so we can compromise the fishing to make it more convenient, I would prefer blastoff at 5am because theres nothing like that first light bite.

On a serious note, how do you do the start the event?

Does everyone get their boat in the water 1 1/2 hours before sunrise and then sit there idling waiting for someone to say, "ok, there it is, first light, blast off!!" For me "first light" is 50-60 minutes before sunrise, that is when the first light of the rising sun can be seen on the horizon.

Or, can you just pay in advance and leave when you want to?

if your not in the bed ever morning then you know when its light enough to blast off safely. then you plan on being there 45 mins early to sign in and bs alittle then put the boat in and wait till first light and catfishrus hollers the we go catch some YADKIN monsters. if you need to know when first light is let me know. we would be glad to have you fish with us so come on down

"...if your not in the bed ever morning then you know when its light enough to blast off safely..."

"First light" has been about 5:30am the past two mornings I have been out fishing, which is about an hour before sunrise.

First light means when the light cracks enough to see safely and travel...not one minute before and not one minute after...we run a tight shift here on the yadkin. I will post when I think its going to be blast off according to the clock as the event nears....we deal with daylight savings time going into the fall /winter....so it not that big a deal when I say first light. Just trying to get all we can out of the day. I try to arrive a hour before we blast off for sign up. As far as the blast off goes...when you see me launching...you got 2 minutes to buckle up and hold on before I holler go! Im the last boat to launch. Pretty simple deal there. We had 11 wounded warriors to show up in April ....in less than 5 minutes they was all rolling. We come to fish and fish we will do. We got it covered...if you want to fish come on...be glad to have you.

P.S. we could set a time like all the bass clubs do...problem is we will be fighting with them over the launching site. I like it like it is....no problems...they signing up and we rolling. Everybody knows that first light bite is much better than the sunrise bite when it compares to cats....if I could....we would be fishing a hour before first light. Too risky on someone getting hurt....hitting a floater in cold weather will hurt you.

sounds good Mike.. My schedule is kind of screwed up this year, but I hope to make most of the tourneys. Maybe I'll actually win one this year. Lord knows I'm due to win one... or all of 'em.. either way is fine with me!!! I might be over on the Catawba chain this weekend chasing a few flatheads.... You don't even need a rod to catch them things...

Well i see the with the Tours coming up the BS has started. Well i do have to say you guys better do better then last year. As in bringing big fish to the dock for the tours. If I recall right I came the cloest to bringing home the big money on the Yadkin tours for big fish. Only two pounds and Chandlers money would have been all mine. I hope Chandler puts away alot of money, he's going to need it this year. I think we all know who's going to take that pot home. With the way the ecomony is I don't want to see any IOU's.
