Wont be long now...time is getting closer. Fishing seems to be a little off right now with spawning season going on. I just wanted to start getting the word out about our up and coming season for the new members here. NCCATS has still got some tourneys coming up at highrock and santee. We going to test out tuckertown with our first nighttime event in late sept or early Oct. this year. Its going to be a interesting event and a learning curve for most of us...I believe...might have a sandbagger in the crowd that fishes tuckertown on a regular base...just have to see. Im not scared though....been beat too many times on my home turf to be scared anymore.
For those that dont know...our series is a two fish limit alive and will be released events. No catfishing 12 hours prior to any of our events.(you can catch bait but no catfishing) Im going to try and plan these events away from the full moon to promote good fishing for everybody....of coarse you still cannot control the weather fronts but you improvise, adapt, and overcome. We will keep the entry fee the same at 40.00 this year per boat since the economy is slow. $5.00 will be held for the championship from each team. We going to run a points system this year for the championship. (try it and see aways) I know some of the teams have to work every other weekend...so send me a PM on whats dates will work for you...I will try to work it out so you can fish....no pormises though. Blast off times will be first light until 3.00 PM weigh in. Will remain weather permitting events and in the event of of a cancelation...it will go to the follow weekend. I will try to call it by thrusday night or friday morning in the event we canel due to weather.Oct 10,2009...tuckertown(nighttime) 7.00 PM to 8 AM river road access Nov 7,2009 .....badin first light to 3.00Pm Alcoa landing Dec 5,2009......Tillery first light to 3.00Pm Cooks marina landing Jan 16,210 ......Badin first light to 3.00Pm Alcoa landing Feb 13,2010.....Tillery first light to 3.00Pm Cooks marina landing Mar 13,2010....badin first light to 3.00Pm Alcoa landing I still got the $200.00 bounty out for that first time 50 lber to get weighed in. Maybe one of new fellows can show us how to catch it in a tourney. It only applies to the biggest catch over 50 lbs in the event somebody gets lucky enough to get two of them. Alright just a heads up and what Im thinking here...got any question?...want to change anything? Last edited by catfishrus; 09-03-2009 at 22:30. |

I'll make a post! I really like that you guys are going to try and get to Tuckertown for a night tournament. Be interesting to see how that goes for ya and if there are any big flatheads still in there. Looks like a good schedule, hopefully I'll actually be able to come up and fish one of those with ya'll this year.

Good deal NC fowler...we growing each year...first year we started out with 8-10 teams...last year we was from 8-17 teams. Funny part was the day only 8 teams showed...the fishing was pretty good. Thats the only time we had a 1st and 2nd place finish and big fish went to another team...so that tells you the fish was feeding and scattered a little for everybody to catch.
Good luck to you Jerry...that badin dedication is going to pay off big for you one day. I believe Im heading over the border in the morning for some more sandbagging.

Here is the first two dates
Tuckertown Oct 10,2009 (nightime) Badin Nov7,2009 Tillery Dec 19,2009....??? thats close to christmas...the saturday before...what you fellows think on that..too close or okay? we can back it up to dec5,2009 but thats full moon...dont matter to me. The badin and Tuckertown events are the week after the full moon(should be good)...most big fish are caught 3 days before or 3 days after a full moon. i been told by a good guide fish will feed on a full moon when something is right...I just dont remember what he said exactly. Ive caught good fish on full moon but most fisherman tend to fade away from it. Whats your thoughts on the dec 5 date? Full moon on the 2nd and will last 3 days after and begin 3 days before....also notice in dec...we will have a blue moon...thats when the full moon comes twice in the same month period of time. Betcha didnt know that....lol. I have done good on the blue moon before.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll probably fish one or two of them if my duck hunting schedule allows it.
Just curious, why don't you all fish any tourneys at High Rock?

Well drop zone I debated highrock over tuckertown but nobody has really fish tuckertown in the past decade for tourneys....so I figured tuckertown would be the test of all test. We have to go to either one of them in our first event or we will be fishing for channel cats since the flatheads will start shutting down come Nov. The NCCATS have a event coming soon to highrock...maybe Aug.? so there is a great event coming to highrock soon.

I was just curious to your reasoning for not fishing HR, and yes the flatty's do tend to shut down pretty tight by the middle to end of Nov. The only ones I would be able to make for sure are the Feb and March events. I'll be on the water during the other events but will be in hot pursute of ducks instead of cats.

The dates look fine, I'm okay with the 19th of Dec, but I also don't mind fishing a full moon. The playing field is level for everyone no matter the moon phase. It would be nice to set a start time like leatherneck mentioned, makes planning easier with my hour and a half drive. Now I just need to make a live well big enough to hold a couple quality fish. The catching them may not happen, but at least I will be prepared.
