Default sonar/trolling motor question

On my boat I have a 597 ci HD and just installed a Minn Kota Power Drive 55 lb thrust 12 volt trolling motor. The trolling motor works awesome, but on speed settings of about 3 or below I get insane amounts of interfernce on my sonar and the lower range of the sonar will go to about 100 ft. or more even when in water of 30 ft. or less with lots of interference looking almost like weak returns of timber on the bottom. I can manually set the lower range and the interference will still be there. If I go above that speed setting it goes away. With the trolling motor up out of the water on the deck I can run it at any speed with no problems. I only run into this with the trolling motor in the water. The trolling motor is on a separate battery than anything else on the boat. The depthfinder is powered through the fuse panel off the cranking battery. The wires to the trolling motor I think do run close to the wires going up to the fuse panel somewhat. I'm thinking I"m getting interfer4ence through the water somehow since it only does it with the trolling motor in the water. I've dealt with sonar interference before and cured it, but these symptoms are a little strange. Anybody got any ideas?
