Well if they get invasive tagged for the Blue Catfish.....VDGIF will have to change their current regulations to follow suit to mark them as invasive and set new guidelines to attempt to help reduce the numbers. I believe Bob has stated that in the past. My guess would be unlimited catch and no size restrictions. What GIT wants is to make it illegal to return them to the water regardless of size and it may come to that if they title the fish invasive.

Is that anything like the Comm guys ignoring the 1 fish over 32" right now? Do we like that? And if not, why would we do the same thing with a no release law? Guess we don't have any room to bitch about the Comm guys taking all the big fish....now do we?!!

I wonder why we have any rules at all?

Storm water run-off has been an issue for several years now. And our County is aware of the requested guidelines that they want in place. We're not talking 10-20 thousand dollars here......we're talking more like 20-40 million dollars or even more to do what they're asking to do. Who's going to flip that bill? They have to be realistic.
Run-off is a major problem for the bay, no doubt about it. The more black toppin' we do, the more it's going to be an issue. All that water you see go in every ditch or storm drain is going directly to the river.
We (Henrico County) do not process storm water run-off through our plant site, that's a completely different piping system underground. We only handle waste water here and our guidelines have been tightened big time this last year. We're spending millions to upgrade our plant site to keep up with those new regulations. The problem is, not every county is as rich as Henrico is. They can't afford to drop millions into construction to meet these guidelines, so is it realistic to think you're going to solve Waste water discharge issues at every plant? No way, it just can't be done. Same goes with Storm water run-off.....it's going to take a lot to meet those guidelines but very few counties have the funds to do so.
I like seeing the environment cleaned up and our rivers clean again but is it going to happen in my life time? NO. So what’s the answer, whatever it is it needs to be installed slowly to reduce the cost and focus on the worse areas first before branching out to rural areas.

I got in contact with Bob,

Before we go throwing him under the bus we needed to hear his side for not showing. Well I did he had a family emergency come up and rushed out the office and all his contact info for me was in his office. He is truly sorry for missing the meeting and would like us to arrange another one soon.

I am all over this and would love to have another chance to sit with him so I am asking for another meeting next week

Bob sent me an e-mail yesterday, here it is:

Earl,

Although they have not finalized the call date/time, I believe there will be a GIT call with the Catfish Workgroup on Wednesday. I should know more to share with the group after participating in that call. So, Wednesday evening would be good. Or, Thursday.

email: bob.greenlee@dgif.virginia.gov

So, I am thinking Thursday evening this time. as Wednesday is a little booked this coming week.

Let me know if any of you want to go, or have a comment or concern for Bob.
thanks
Earl

Here is my reply e-mail to Bob for this up coming weeks meeting'

Bob,

Wednesday is a good night also, I did have things going on but plans have changed and it's now open. How about the same time 7:30, that will give everyone time to get home from work. and I am thinking the Italian kitchen restaurant again as it's quiet and accommodating and we can have our meeting in peace and actualy hear everyone talk.

Jeff,
I think I'll do the same thing I did last time and just make the reservations and whom ever shows it will be covered.
