Default a pa yankee visiting king catfish's court

Hi all, gonna be visiting the Hilton head island area first week of august. Can anyone recommend some places where his Yankee can catch some real catfish? The one's we have up here are more like kitten fish compared to what you folks grow down there! Any ideas would be appreciated :-)

Hilton heads a great place, but just outside of the monster cat prime. There is plenty of coastal fish to go after but you would need to go atleast to the freasher part of the rivers for the cats. I'm sure there is other places but my pick would be start at Santee Cooper or the river system and lakes that feeds it to the north, wateree, wylie. Theres guides on all of them so you could make a day of it. good luck

Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into it. Thought about fly fishig for redfish on the flats, but my fly equipment won't stand up to their fight and no cash for a.new outfit right now. :-(
