I got the best sonar ever. just tie a rope to cutbait's leg and make him swim down then give a tug and pull him back up so he can tell me what's down there in real time. no downloads no maps no nothing. have to coax him in the winter though but usally just drop a biscuit in and he goes

So far so good the unit is really easy to use .I love the color pallette options. The brown bottom, white back ground really separates fish on the bottom from the actual bottom compared to my other color Lowrance. I'll try to get a snap shot this weekend of some fish and post it.

Hey Guys I am new to this site and saw the post regarding the Lowrance HDS. I have the HDS 8 with structure scan and I have to say this thing is incredible. The HD unit is great but the structure scan puts it over the top. You have no doubt about what is actually down there. Here are a few pics.

looks good, I have the hummingbird.
We should try a comparison somehow and see what they can do. maybe stand a cement block up in 30' of water(with a rope)... and then get your best scan of it....if we made several test like that then we could compare apples to apples. I have seen some great scans from both units but wonder what the same scans would look like side by side.

Hey Jerry we should do that some time. It would be a good post.
Here are a few more. Not sure if they will down load in order.
- I made a sharp right turn in a creek and on the color sonar looks like it could be loaded with bait on the bottom but the down scan clearly shows it’s only a tree.
- This shows rocks off a point
- I am approaching a bridge and you can see what looks like bait on the bottom on the color sonar but you can see on the down scan it's an old bridge pylon and old bridge rubble at about 58’ to the bottom
