Default Lake tillery fishing reports

post by gearhead dec. 27,2009
Went to Tillery tuesday morning got there @ 8:00 am and the bait in swift island cove was M.I.A. glad I brought some frozen B.B. . It was raining but the small Blues were biting . I stayed close to the 24/27 bridge because of the weather and drifted caught about 15 small blues .Biggest was probably @ 15 lbs all where right @ 10 I guess. Caught some bullheads also but not one channell I thought that was strange. Rain stopped about 12:00 but not the wind so I went up river and wasted some time and caught nothing up there. Quote : from LakeNormanBlues : never leave biting fish. Did'nt catch any big fish but had some nice action all morning . Sorry no pictures it was raining and I released them all pretty quickly so that I could get my hands back in my pockets .Wet hands and cold wind that was (tough) on me

Went back to Tillery this morning, it was a little cool to begin with... :cold , I like it though it makes for a combination fishin and ice skating trip on the deck of my boat.... Naw , I could do without the ice skating. I got 3 blues early and that was it other than white cats. The biggest blue went 20 lbs. I got to keep working to knock Tomahawk off the top for Jan. I know he's thinking that will never happen.... The water temp was 47 the last time I looked.

Went to Tillery this morning, my friend JPN went with me . The bite was kind of slow again, but we did get the two biggest fish with in ten minutes of each other. We ended up with four blues, a couple were in the 8 to 10 pound range, the other two were 22 and 25 lbs. The 22 was JPN's biggest so far. Caught the biggest fish early, then it got real slow other than the white perch bite. The water temp was in the upper 40's, no current to speak of. The wind made it rough from about 10:00 am on.

Fished Tillery this morning. Tried frozen shad, to see if they work. Caught 8 channels and one 30lb blue. Missed one other nice fish. It was change not having any ice in the bottom of the boat. Looks like the water is starting muddy up. Thats a good thing for the blues. Water temp was at 44*. Not too many boats out this morning. The weather was nice for a change.

Went to Tillery this morning,3-12-08, got a few small channels , whites, and 4 blues. The biggest blue went 21 lbs. I had one at the boat that looked to be upper 20's to low 30's but the hook popped out just as I was reaching for the net.... The bait was a little tougher in swift island cove this morning, had to work a little harder. The water temp was in the low 50's. Had good current most of the morning

Took my neighbor fishing this mourning to try and hook him up with the big one! Bait was easy this mourning and we were anchored down before daylight. We had our first bite after daybreak and fished till 11:oo AM. Ended up with 21,20,and 5lb blues,1 channel, several bullheads and 20 perch. Didnt get the big bite this mourning but my neighbor had a great time, thats all that mattered

Went to Tillery this morning, had a pretty decent day, got ten blues and one flathead. The biggest blue went 33 pounds 6 oz. the rest ranged from 8 to 16 pounds except for one that was less than 5 . The flathead was 15 pounds 10 oz. I found out one thing it's hard to hold he fish on the scale and take a pic of yourself to where you can read the scale.... Didn't get one you could tell what the scale said on the blue.... :2cry: didn't even try the flathead.

Teamed up with Tomahawk this morning. We caught 8 fish with 7 being blues. Tomahawk picked up a 26lber for the biggest fish. Bite was great at first light and then the winds came and things really slowed down. Bait was so..so. Good current today. Lake is turning muddy from the uwharrie river running into it. Good amount of trash floating in the lake also and seen one nice size floating log. Water temp in swift island before daylight 59...up river 54. Most of the blues was in the 7-12lb range with another fish in the 15-20lb range along with the 26lber.

Alright i got that skunk washed off from last friday night and finally caught some fish today. I caught 11 blues,1 flathead and 2 white cats. Biggest blue was 31 lbs and the flathead was 40lbs. Most of the other blues was in the 5-10 range except one which was 17lbs. Bait was a pain!!!!! I was fighting the flathead when the next rod over started down. All i could do was set the hook and put it back in the rod holder until i got the flathead in. Flathead felt real good and i was surprized to see the blue was that big. I was busy as a bee for a few minutes there. O yea i got struck out twice today in two other spots....swinging and missing too. Alot of fun today.

Me and a friend went back to Tillery today, we ended up with six Blues and one channel, It was kind of slow for us today, ole catfishrus stoled the show today, I've taught him well , but I'll let him comment on that.... All of our blues went 7 to 12 lbs except one that went 36 lbs 3 oz. The channel was 9 lbs 9 oz. The bait was fair and the water temp was low 60's. I know ya'll are getting tired of looking at these fish but I'll post a pic of the 36 anyway....
