Default Kerr 1/21

Me and Yadkin Catman went up to Kerr today to do some looking and try to do some catching. The day started off with a 3am run to high rock for some fresh bait. 3 throws of the 10 ft. net and I had enough bait for 5 boats. Off to Kerr we go. We got to the ramp at Longwood right at daybreak as planned and were met with cold, wet and more cold and wet. We toughed it out and headed down to an area I had looked at on the map to fish. After a litle bit of looking we anchor down on spot #1. We caught a 5 lb. blue and Bubba had a hawg pull off on him after about a 2 minute battle...no big fish yet, but good to know for the icebowl. We head off to spot #2 after doing a little R & D in the new area we're fishing. We get anchored down and got fish pecking at the rods in a matter of minutes. I landed another blue about 5 lb. and then a rod gets the 'ol slow bend goin'. I stuck the fish and handed it to Bubba and he landed his PB blue that weighed 25 lb.....best one I've got yet out of Kerr. Not 2 minutes later another rod gets buried to the water with the fish peeling line off the reel before I could get to it. I grab the rod and set the hook and the line breaks.....Grrr!! We were fishing around some wood so I guess that's just part of it. We landed a few more smaller blues from 5 to 13 lb. and called it a day after hitting another few spots. Good day on the water, but a LOOOONNNNGGGGG day!!!

Jerry, i will bring plenty of shad with me. Some of the other NC locals are bringing some "other" bait with them for the NC team. Catching bait at Kerr shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes it takes a while to find it, but when you find it, it is thick. I marked a ton of bait all over the lake today. Call me sometime before you hed up and I'll put you on the bait I know about. Our best fish today came on BIG baits.

Thanks for the congrats guys, but i call shananigans on you guys using colored graphs with gps/di/si.I see why i get my butt kicked those things are the chit.First time i ever seen one in action on the water and i have to say Rookie knows what he's doing with that thing.I learned some good stuff so if and when i ever get one i'll know a little about it.I had a great time and my butt was dragging after only a hour and half sleep the night before and pulling a 30lb anchor stuck in a foot of clay all day.Kerr is a nice lake with some big fish. Thanks Rookie for the trip and and the new pb blue.I hope to top that at tillery on the 4th.lol.Hoped to use some of the knowledge from kerr to do it.Tight lines.

Bubba, you're welcome on my boat anytime man. You mad a fine anchor puller and fish catcher yesterday..lol. We had fun and yes, the fancy electronics make life easier. You don't need them, but darn they make it easier and are a time saver.

Congrats to you both!! I imagine you were ticked when the line broke , it happens to the best. How much did you estimate the linesnapper to weigh?

Just to be clear now...I'm just having fun out of it is all...I know Chris is straight up when he tells you something. In the past he's really got me on some nice fish but yeah it was at least a 150 pounder. He wouldn't just barely break the record..he would thrash it! lol

Not sure how big, but big! It takes a pig to bend the rod that he hit. THe last one I saw that hit like that ended up weighing 53 lb., but I can't say. All I know is I'd like to have him next Sat!! I know where hes' at anyway. I'm goin' up Fri. to do some more scouting. Hopefully Nc will come away with it this time. I'd like to put some $$$ in my pocket too!
