Default Ken Freeman tourney

I just got back from watching the weigh in for the tourney. It was a low turnout (not sure of the total number) Big fish caught was only 67#. Bigones (Tim) took 5th place with 34#!

I talked with Ken a bit and he said next year he was going to try and hold the tourney around the end of March or beginning of April. I told him any time in that time frame would be better than having it this late in the year and during the spawn so hopefully he will have it set up for then next year!

Default Re: Ken Freeman tourney

I saw lots of catfishermen on the river this morning. Dunno how many were in the tournament though. I was trying to catch rockfish this morning (skunked).

One thing of interest this morning is that I wanna know who thought it would be a good idea to send 50 canoes with 2 people each through the Jones Neck Cut around 10am in the morning on a Saturday. The fact that they were going through there wasn't exactly bad but what was bad is that they were paddling in the middle instead of along the shoreline. You had 60mph bass boats, big center consoles, etc coming through there....what woulda happend if a barge was coming?

I noticed that the river police boat was at the south side of the cut with it's lights on, I guess escorting them...I guess they were some paddling club. I was in a bass boat and came off plane so I wouldn't wake them bad since they were in the middle of the channel paddling.....I was amazed when I was behind them that they didn't get out of the middle. I eventually got fed up and put the pedal down to about 3mph and started weaving through them (I was just trying to get to the other side of the deep bottom loop). A 2nd boat behind me that had slowed down too followed my weaving path through them. I figured once they saw motor boats behind them they'd cut toward the shoreline but nope.

Then some other fool in a bass boat coming from the Presquille direction weaved through them going 50mph.

See some amazing stuff on the river.....
