When cleaning you catch of pan fish for cooking, keep the heads of the crappie and gills. put them in a freezer bag and add shad oil or cod oil, freeze fresh and use in winter time for the big blues when bait is hard to find.
Also you can transport a bag of frozen scraps to a spot and turn it into a hot spot by placing them in an onion sack and hanging it a couple feet above the water...in just a few days maggots will appear and be falling into the water attracting the blue gills -- and we all know what bluegills attract
