Post Boat Emergency Kit

orginal post by Nightfisher

Found this nifty waterproof box in the Tupperware section of Walmart and thought it would make an excellent box to store my paperwork and emergency supplies in since the box I currently have them in tends to get damp. The new box has a gasket and latches on all four sides to secure the top well. Thought I would share a couple photos of my kit to remind others to check theirs and be sure they are good to go. I found that my flares will expire this year, so I'll need to get new ones soon. I also taped a plastic pocket like they give you for your fishing liscence to the inside wall of the container to keep my boat registration and title card in so I won't have to dig for them when the man comes to look me over.

Contents....
Title and registration cards
Boat manual
Motor Manual
Accident reporting form
1 Whistle
1 Pull Rope for motor
3 Handheld flares (need new ones)
1 flashlight (check batteries regularly)
1 lighter (waterproof matches would be a better choice)
1 Handheld VHF radio & manual (check batteries regularly)

A small 1st aid kit would be a good thing to have in there too, but I already have a huge one I keep aboard that is practically a medicine cabinet as well as a 1st aid kit. I keep it in one of those industrial size ziplock bags.

Anyways, everyone stay safe on the water and be prepared should an emergency arise.
