Default Big fish of the month from South Carolina 2009

Alright a little rivalary between between SC and NC for 2009. Whos got the big fish in 2009? Heres the rules...no pay lake fish, all you have to do is post a picture and tell what body of water it came from with a weight...and release the fish alive back in the same body of water. Rod and reel only Wyliecat said he caught a 44lber and couldnt post it in the NC big fish thread so we calling his bluff....start them out with that 44lber wyliecat...lets see what you got. We will start over at the end of each month. Total combined weight for each state will determine the southeast mastercatter of the year. No prizes here....just friendly competition with our neighbors.

Jan.....Rivercatsc wins with a 42 lb lake moultrie flathead.
Feb....Rivercatsc wins with a 39lb 6 oz lake moultrie blue.
Mar....Captain Darryl Smith with a 60lb lake moultrie blue.
April...Chef Jim with a 36lb flathead from santee.
May...Scott with a 58lb 13oz blue from monticello (Chirsblue client)
June...Karolina Kitty with a 28lb flathead from santee.
July... Captain Darrly with a 65 lb flathead from moultrie
Aug....catfishrus with a 44 lb blue from lake Monticello.
Sept.. Bowlerman with a 62 lb blue from lake wateree.
Oct...Bigcatsc with a 37 lb blue from santee.
Nov..Chalk with a 40 lb blue from santee.
Dec....G3cat leading with a 53 lb blue from wateree.

Lets see what you got!

Make sure you post them in this thread and I will keep it updated. Friendly trash talk welcome too.

Moultrie 1-15-08

The wind was was a little tough and with 1-2' waves would have been some tough fishing out of my old boat but the 25' toon was perfect combination for the wind ad the cold yesterday. I had a buddy of mine come down from the upstate to fish with me. We drifted cut gizzard shad in about 25-35ft deep with a 50deg water temp. The fish bite never was very good but out of the 6 fish we caught all except 1 were BIG fish. We ended with up with a 5lb, 21lb,23lb, 26lb, 28lb blues and a 42lb flathead. Boy that flathead fooled me cause he slammed the rod and made a 50ft run to the right and luckily only got 1 other line. I thought we had big striper until he rolled up infront of the boat. We had a great time and I cant wait to get back down there again.

The flathead was for you Micheal. I reckon I didnt beat 44lber but I was all over it.

Now I have to figure out how to post pics.
Here is James(rivercatsc) 42lb flathead from lake moultrie on santee cooper. You in the lead!

I just saw this post!!

My fish was 42 pounds, not 44 pounds!! Of course that was back in December.

Maybe I can catch another one later this year!!

You should know better; I don't talk about it unless I got a picture!!

Well I got back on the water again today and it was a great day. I worked a 12 hour shift last night and when I got home I hooked up and me and a buddy headed for Moultrei. We put in and was fishing by about 10:30am and fished till 5pm. We put 200+lbs(12) of fish in the boat drifting cut gizzard shad in about 50ft of water. The water temp was around 46deg and there was NO current in the canal today when we got there and when we left. We caught a 39lb 6oz blue for the big fish and had 6 over 20lbs and the rest were dinks for the most part. All in all a beautiful day on the water and I think I will try them at night on Thursday.

Heres the hammer blue from Monday.

I know this aint gone hold up but I'll post it just to keep some activity going on the board. The flatheads are finnally starting to come to life in the upstate so maybe I'll be able to add a little more competition in the next few weeks.Heres a 20 and 25 lbr caught on Lake Greenwood and a monster 17 lb channel cat on Greenwood also, unfortunately, you just dont see channels like that much anymore. That one might hold up if it was just a channel cat contest.lol They where all released.

Nice catch Chris. I know you a big fan of channel cats. We had one out of badin this year that went 20.2lbs caught by one of the teams in our tourney series. Check it out in the NC section under winners circle. Biggest one I have seen from here. Again nice catch...you in the lead!

Yeah I seen that hawg, that was a pretty fish.

Your right, I do love channel cats.If you think about it, a channel cat is probably what got most of us catfish freaks hooked on catfishing. Its sad though that you dont see that many 14 to 15+ lb channels anymore.I couldnt imagine being able to catch 20 to 30 lb channels like we do with blues and flats. You would have to have some real good tackle to hold up to that abuse.
