However if you like them, the bite will pick up alot and catch ocasional blue, mostly smaller ones. Theres some nice flatheads up there but drifting for them at night wont do as well as anchored. If you want to chase the blues you will have to go to the big water. between old whitney and anything you can see from there...and a little more. At night some are feeding not most. If I'm drifting and catching channel cats I move a little deeper alot of the time I'm in water 50'-60' dragging some on bottom and some suspended. summer time is real hit and miss. most bigger fish of the summer I think will come from the big water. marking a spot is useless because they are moving. just note your depth and suspened depth or anything about it. I hope I can improve my summer fishing but dont think it will match my spring fishing. and looking forward to the fall but to me this summer will be a practice in humbleness
This post is about as good as it gets on badin kingfisher. Good info. there from jerry9497 and welcome to mastercatters2

Well I'm back from Georgia. Didnt fish so been looking at some stuff and found something interesting in my fishing log. Who would have thought at this time last year Badin was at full pool (almost). however when I fished july 1st it was down 4 foot. Lake is looking great right now, I wonder how it will be next month.

Went to Badin Saturday night til about 1230. The dam was open and the current was rolling all night. Got anchored down beside the main current so I could fish a couple of rods at the current edge and a couple in slacker water. Boated a new PB of 46lbs. Thought I was going to be on the top of the moutain for a day or two, but Tomahawk pulled in that 48lb earlier in the day. Fish fought hard and tried to get me in the current, but I managed to work him back out and keep him off the anchor rope. The picture turned out okay considering it was self photography. Hard work finally paid off!

Thats a nice one Katandsuds. Looks like you got a female there. The one I had a was big male, he head huge head and was blind in one eye. Looks like your really had a pot belly. Those big fish are alot fun in strong current. You have to really watch those anchor lines. I think the flats are worse then the blues for wrapping around anchor lines.
