How is the drifting at Badin? Is there long flats that you can have a nice long drift on or is there a lot of contour?

badin is a good lake to drift. if the winds right you can have some drifts that that a hour or more . or you can use your trolling motor and troll all day.

Good report Buck, A 25 lb. blue out of Badin is a winning day for me any day. That can be a humbling lake. When you get a good one out of there, you feel like you've accomplished something. Good fish man!

Fished this weekend.... the ole hole dried up on me, guess it's time to go scouting again. I'll probably go full scale drifting before long, My backs sore from pulling anchors.
darn new trolling motor was back ordered, should (better) be here this week. oh well got a decent price so wont complain yet. everybody fishing over yonder, so I recon I got the lake to myself.

Hey Jerry you know this past saturday mornig there was 4 other boats in your spot. I fished close to the rock wall where I saw you thursday from 0300-0600. Not a bite. I bet that ne wind killed the fishing. Yesterday at Tillery all i got was 1-16lb blue and several big whitebass. I was fishing close to where Jeff was this morning. The winds shift and the fish bite, ain't that some shit. Looks like you have some of the badin blues figured out. Now you have to figure the flatheads out. Not an easy task there.

I am going to play around with the flatheads but I havnt caught near the blues yall have so I'm still content to fish for them. Last year I stayed hung up most of the time, when I did catch a fish it was a channel cat. I fish 6500s with weak action for drifting, I would have to pick up some 7000s and set them up a little tuffer. Blues mostly only fight the water, when I fish that shallow flatheads have there way with me.

Them flatheads aren't that hard to figure out if you understand how they behave. Most people have got the spring and fall bites figured out, but that in between bite can be tough. Learn to pattern the fish and you will have them. They are a creature of habit. That 50 lb. blue I caught was caught by patterning fish. From the conditions I saw, I knew there should be fish there and there were. I never marked a one of 'em either.
