Went out this morning from 0300-0730. Didn't know what to expect with the full moon. Caught afew fish. Caught two flats a 20 and 42lber. Also missed several nice ones. Alos got some channels and small blues. I guess not bad for a full moon. Using live herring.

Fished Badin Sat. and Sun. Sat. was real slow, but managed a couple nice fish. Seen a 73 lb. blue caught. I weighed it for the guy b/c his scales were bottomed out at 50 lb. I saw him land it, so I got a spot myslef. I told him to get on here, but he said he didn't even have a computer. My two biggest were 62 lb. Got them within ten minutes and then it just quit. Today I did more looking than fishing. Did manage to put 13 stripers in the boat this evening. lost a good one about high teens, maybe 20 lb. at the boat. My oldest boy got the net hung in a rod holder and the fish broke off. biggest stripe was about 10-12 lb. fun day on the water. got some meat in the freezer now. kept 3 stripers. see ya'll Sat.

fished Badin yesterday, wow, I had a great time. I caught probably 15 blues, they kept getting bigger so I stayed there. biggest was 28 lbs, I wish I would have tried a couple other holes but I wasnt leaving fish that bite like that. smallest was 10 lbs. all blues. I caught 3 that was 15 lbs and 3 that were 20 2 that were 25 a 22 lbr and a 28 lbr. I think I could have got 30 out of the last one but 2 shakes and I put it up. here is a few pictures in no order. I only caught 1 fish last night, I quit when the wind picked up.

The ducer takes a paper thin image straight down and straight out the side with everyting in between and keeps stacking them together to get a picture (I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone but me). If something is in the way before the actual bottom is hit, it produces a shadow cuz it can't look through it. This is starting to sound real funky now. Bait really looks like clouds in the sky, sometimes fish are just streched out white lines when close to the bottom with no shadow. After a while I quite having to turn my head to understand what I was seeing .

Here's something we go by all the time on Badin under the three buoy's at the trestle.

Look at the people standing on there in the pic, same old trestle from 19 O'Jesus
Picture taken by the Whitney company really back in the day

Heading upriver w/old spillway on starboard side

Just cool structure within eyesight of the above pic's

Cheers!

pulled allnighter on Badin last night. got a 56 and a 35, couple smaller and lost one, felt like maybe it was in the teens. great night on the water with 5mph wind that felt like it blew straight up from florida, man it was nice. the 35 looked like a football, very short fish very big around. but the 56 looked juusstttt right and water temp ranged from 48- 51

it is hard to weigh and take a picture of a fish like that alone. I could pick the scale up...but I couldnt hold it up eye level with the flashlight pointed in the right place all at the same time. shakeing the digital scale said EEEE so I tried in on the 50 pound spring scale it went to 54 and made a cracking sound. I put the camera on the livewell and turn the camera on (after digging my glasses out)(flash light) set it to timer, then push the button, get back to fish...pick the big joker up and pose then wait..... the 56 kept kicking just before the timer would flash. notice that when I finally got a good picture of the 56 my dog had got over it and laid back down.

........

I fished from 6:30pm-10am. fish werent really biting that good but did catch some, heres 2. The 42 lbr took my line out to one side....figured it was a striper, then about 20 yards out it came to top and started jumping like a bass, it did the death roll on top water all the way to the boat then seen me and acted like a catfish and hit the bottom again. I think she didnt like that. look at the catfishes head on the daytime picture.
the 45 fought like a catfish.

Badin is one heck of a catdog. she's the first one to the rod when they get a bite, she lets me know when I hang up drifting. and she inspects all fish brought aboard. I also thinks she feels strongly about catch and release.
A bumper catch in the cast net drives her crazy

Cutbait/Circlehook..... You recon you can teach Badin how to back a boat in?
