Default Badin lake fishing reports

Posted by jerry 9497 feb 16,2008
Moose and I went to Badin today (sat) there was a bass tournement and the wind blew pretty good, We sat on each spot for 1 hour and fished 5 spots, bite was slow and bullheads mostly. I did get a 28lb about 10am but wind and traffic was killing us. I didnt go up river. I caught bait in garr creek.

Went to Badin this morning, 2-28-08, man it was cold, especially with that NW wind blowing. Bait was still easy in gar creek. I got 5 blues, 6 channels, and some pesky bull heads.

Posted by catfishrus Mar 8, 2008....NCCATS results
1st place team Chris fraley/ Dennis Leaonard.......33.85lbs $1000.00
2nd place team Phil Leoanard /Lonnie White........32.65lbs $700.00
3rd place team turfman....................................31.45lb s $380.00
4th place team catfishrus.................................28.15lb s $240.00
5 th place team Kevin Custer/ Jerry Hilderbran.....27.30lbs $150.00
big fish (flathead)........................................ ....24.20lbs $210.00

What a miserable day to be fishing is all i can say. High winds made for ruff waters. Winning team had 5 channel cats for a weight of 33lbs. Top five teams was within 5lbs of each other so it was a close but low weigh in for badin standards to say the least. Biggest blue weighed in was around 15lbs by turfman. Second place team had a estimated 20lb blue up to the boat and she came unplugged. Good news was everyone made it out safe in the tournament. 21 teams came to the show today. Sorry i didnt get no pictures of the weigh in. Congrates to the all the winning teams.

My team focused on drifting all day and landed 3 channels and 8-10 small blues in the 2-4lb range. Our day started out bad when my good buddy Hunter got sick when he got in the truck and had to stay home for the day so i let the dip net man take charge of the rods and well .....i see a difference in them two. :2wink: I dont know if its from getting old or what but my balance in that ruff water today was off quiet a bit. This computer has a little rock to it. O yea i got us another 6500 c3 for this fall in the door prizes too. :2wink:

Some fish were bitting at badin this morning. Caught 7 big channels, a 12lb striper and a 15lb flathead. The NE wind started blowing like hell at 0900, so i left. It was nice the first few hours, nobody was up river. Water temp went up to 54*. Bait was scattered out this morning.

Hey that fish maxed my scales. IT only goes up to 50lbs. I estimate the fish was 55 to 60 lbs. What a day on the water. Ended up with 3 blues, 55 to 60,26,18. One flathead 22, and 2 stripers. I missed the first fish which felt bigger. Maybe catfishrus will post the pictures for me.

Badin was slow this morning also. Me and Eric went and only caught several channels and one 22lb blue. Biat wasn't that hard to get if you where to look. Was a nice morning. They were running good current at daylight. Going back torr hopfully it improves.

Team DLCATTER does it again! I believe it was Chris Fraley this time with a 53lb blue cat. You guys sure have CMJ setting on pins and needles for big fish of the month for March. I know thats at least 5 fish this month in the 50lb plus range for the Yadkin Mastercatters. Congrates on the catch Chris.

What a morning on the water. Those fish wore me out. For blues i got a 5,20,30 and a 53lber. Fort flats I got a 20lber and a 27lber. Also caught 4 channels and two stripers. That 53lber gave me hell this moirning. I turned around to look at my bait. As I did, he took off with my rod., he alomost pulled it in. He took like a frieght train down river. I thought I had a gaint striper. Then he went over 3 other lines. He came back to the boat and just before I saw him I thought dam this is a monster striper. He finally came up. Then he headed towards the main channel. he turned around right quick and went under the boat. Then headed down river. Remember Iam still tangled with two other lines. So now lines are around the motor and anchor. I got the lines from the motor didn't even know if I still had him on. He was still there. He only wrapped one time around the anchor. What a pain. Befroe that right at daylight I played the chinese fire drill. I had 4 rods go down at the same time. All channel cats, I guess a school of them moved in. It was really nice morning on the water. Posted the pictures in the picture gallery. Can't post them here for some reason.

I fished Badin last night and today and did pretty good. Started off hunting flatheads, got 4, a 20 lb, 17 lb., 15 lb., and 12 lb. Flathead mission accomplished, no hawgs, but I'll take it. Then I started looking for blues, found two, a 35 lb. and a 15 lb. fish. also got a 4 lb. striper, about a dozen channel cats and a few whites and bullheads. I stayed busy out there. biggest five was 102 lb. I got a pic of the big blue, but I need to get the film developed, will post it when I get it done.

Man were the flats bitting this morning. Caught 3,4,8,12,2-15lbs, a 20, 2-25lbers and a 30lber. All caught on live whiteperch. Most were caught on floatrigs. They really had me going there for awhile. I never got a break. I also missed 3 other fish. Can't wait till next week. For it's only going to get better. I included a picture of a carney yellow flat. Pretty cool.

All I can say is it was a banner night for me on Badin last night. I fished from 6 pm to 3 am and put 31 catfish in the boat. I had nonstop action all night. I ended up with 18 blues and the rest were whites and a few channels. There for a little while I was having 2 and 3 rods go off at the same time, but I could tell it was just white cats because I couldn't hook the. They would just bounce the rod. My biggest blues were 26, 24, 19, and 17. I also had two channel cats over ten pounds. I had a blast out there! I hope they stay put for the tournament coming up, but I doubt they will. Heck, I was having to chase the blues around a little bit to stay on them last night. I also hooked a fish that I couldn't turn around for anything. He was peeling line and I couldn't get him to stop for nothing. After he shattered one of my rods into three pieces, he finally broke my 30 lb. main line. It fought like a blue, but I never saw him. It was a good one though! Awesome night on the water. My biggest five was 98 lb. That's all the big blues and a 12 lb. channel.
