After I tended to my horse I head out of Courtland for the James River Ferry at 0745.

Scott (gottafish) was already on the river getting bait.......not looking so well he didnt get but 2 cutters.....I suggested where to go to get bait where it stacks up all winter ......

when he picked me up at the ramp at 0930 the net had 2 dozen or so nice shad in it and we were set......

headed to some snags off the bank and we got set up......

cold cold cold and water temp was 36*......but no wind so it was bare-able

right away Scott broke off a big HAWG......then one in the mid 30's......

fished there threw most of the incoming tide......

moved across the river to the other side ti fish out the tide -
after it turned and we re-set the boat & lines we boated a fish in the mid 20 range......

the wind blew in our faces and we called it a day at 1:30......

only fished a solid 2 hours but great to get out and finish off the year with some pullage and glad to see my buddy Scott again.......

Back to the country in Courtland ~ and..........

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wow Jamie, I didn't know you still knew how to catch fish good thing you had Scott there to show you how Congrats on the two fish on a short day! You're gonna have to call and tell me where the shad were hanging out since we could only get 1 with every set of the net last time!

i dint say that I caught a fish smarty pants ~ you KNOW BETTER than that

re-read....."Scott Broke off and then boated" and then "WE boated"

I will take 10 cents for the bait, but all I did was "suggest" where to find it when all his haunts failed......

other that that my job was only to net his fish and make hot cocoa
and heat up the danish......
