Default About 2/3 there

Due to all the rain we have had this fall and winter, I got way behind on my wood cutting. I always cut wood a year in advance. My wood shed almost got empty before I got to start cutting this year. I finally have it about 2/3 full. I figure four more loads of green wood, 90% oak and the rest cherry, will fill my wood shed up. I also need to cut a couple of loads of standing dead oak to finish this year out as we have been unusually cold this winter. It has really cramped my fishin', but business before pleasure is my motto. Spring is right around the corner. I hope to get ALL my wood cut during next week so I can start fishin' again at least three days a week. Here is a pic of my helper from today. Fot the price of a quart of beer, one pack of cigs and $7, I got a full days work from him. We cut two huge loads today! I promised him a few catfish and a monetary bonus when we get it filled to the brim! :-)

Got to love that wood heat....its warm heat. I grew up with a wood stove in the basement of my parents house. We never had air conditions either but we stayed in the basement all the time...much cooler. I always tested my dads patience because he run the chain saw and I used the hammer and wedge...man you can over swing that wedge once its started and break that handle pretty easy...LOL. Hes since put in a heat pump but he hasnt forgot about all the handles I broke. O yea I once ran over a piece rail road track he layed in the yard with the lawn mower too...bent the blades...that cost "me" $12.44 for two new blades back then. That broke me on that.....$12.44 was alot of money to me back then...thats why I havent forgot how much it cost. So I would say you got a bargain in your helper there Bill.

You gotta love cheap day labor! I had a guy that would clean up a whole job site for a 6 pack and a pack of cigs back when I was running a crew. I gladly bought the beer and cigs to be able to keep all my "paid" workers getting the job done!

Almost there now! I am going to add on to my 12 X 7 X 8 woodshed next week. BTW, my wood splittin' maul is equipped with a schedule 40 METAL handle. I can bust wood 2 to 1 quicker than people with mechanical wood splitters. I LOVE splittin' wood! My helper is workin' with someone else the last couple of days. He said he was ready to get back with me though because the other guy doesn't *** him as well as I do!

Thats a pretty tuff looking maul there Bill...I believe I would have to hide that one to get out of cutting wood...LOL. Naw just kidding...splitting that wood will keep in you shape for when the big cats bite.

LOL! Actually, THAT maul makes splitting SO much easier! It's a beast! In fact, I hide IT so no one will steal it, though people rarely steal something you have to work hard with! ;-)

Steve, it appears to be a factory made wood stove, but there are no identifying marks on it. It's 32 inches long made of 1/4 inch boiler plate with a 1/2 boiler plate door. I can fill it before bed and cut the draft off and it will idle all night long. I also occasionally burn my 'Fatso' laundry stove, and my 'Golden Oak' parlor stove. I cut all my wood a year ahead of time so it will be dry.

Yes, Steve, it and the Fatso are antiques, both in very good condition.
